Is shopping on HandyDeck's web site secure?
Your Internet web browser can operate in a "standard" mode (used for typical browsing and Internet surfing) and in a "secure" mode (for transferring highly sensitive information such as credit card numbers). Depending on your web browser, you may see an icon with broken key, or an open padlock, in the toolbar at the bottom of your browser window. If so, or if no icon is present, you are browsing the Internet in "standard" mode. Alternatively, if the key is whole, or the padlock is closed, your browser is telling you you're in "secure" mode.
During the checkout process on our website, your browser will switch to "secure" mode (indicated by a URL that begins with "https:" instead of just "http:") and will digitally encrypt all the information you'll be sending to us. Encrypted information is unreadable to hackers and other "eavesdroppers", so your personal information is transferred to us securely.
What then happens is that your server responds, automatically sending your server our site's digital certificate, which authenticates our site.Your web browser then generates a unique "session key" (like a code) to encrypt all communications with the site.
Your browser encrypts the session key with your site's public key so only your site can read the session key. Depending on your browser, you may see a key icon becoming whole or a padlock closing, indicating that the session is secure.
A secure session is now established--all communications will be encrypted and can only be decrypted by the two parties in the session.
So, please be assured that any payment information you submit will be transmitted only using highly secure SSL encryption.
Also note that Handydeck does not see or record and credit card details with orders placed online. This information goes directly to our payment processing organization, PayPal.
