How do I install the tiles around railings or posts?
You can cut any of the tiles to fit around railings, posts or pipes on your deck. The easiest way to do this is as follows:
1. Make a template using a piece of stiff paper or cardboard cut to the exact size of the tile which has the section you need to cut out.
2. Use this template to mark the exact size of the cut out area.
3. Trace this cut out area on the tile. When tracing the area make sure that the cut out area is slightly larger than the section marked on your template to allow for any slight misalignment and/or expansion of the tiles in use.
4. Remove the area that you have marked on the tile. With the SwiftDeck and LinkDeck wood tiles a jigsaw is normally the easiest way to remove the cutout section whilst with the EzyTile range you would need to use a wetsaw. When cutting the wood tiles, make sure that the saw blade does not come into contact with any of the screws which hold the wood slats to the plastic base. You may need to insert some additional screws on the underside of the tile to ensure that each piece of wood is held securely to the plasticbase by at least two screws.
