Resurfacing a Concrete Patio Deck

The easiest way of covering or resurfacing an old concrete patio is without a doubt to lay HandyDeck wood or stone deck tiles over the top. With HandyDeck's DIY patio pavers, it's just a simple matter of snapping the individual modules directly into place on top of the existing surface.
There's no special surface preparation normally required and you don't need any special skills... or special tools...not even nails or screws. Just measure the area you want to cover, calculate how many tiles you'll need and you're ready to go. Everything you need to resurface your patio is right inside in each box of tiles - a complete DIY patio deck kit!
Provided the concrete patio isn't excessively cracked, you can simply lay the tiles directly over the top of your existing concrete surface. Small cracks are generally no problem, but if you have larger cracks where there is a height discontinuity of more than about 3/16", then you may need to patch the cracks or level the surface with a layer of thinset or other suitable patching compound. If possible, tile joins should not be situated directly over any long cracks where the join(s) would be parallel with the length of the crack.
Whilst our EzyTile range of porcelain, granite and natural slate tiles look great over old concrete patios, with this particular product range, it's important that the surface is as smooth as possible. If the tiles are allowed to "rock" on the surface below, there is some chance that they may crack if heavy objects are dropped on the tiles.
If you have pipes or other obstacles on the patio, that's no real problem since with the SwiftDeck or LinkDeck tiles you can easily cut the tiles to shape with a handsaw or jigsaw. With the EzyTile range you'll need top use wetsaw to cut the tiles to shape.
To give a professional finishing touch to the outer edge of your patio deck, reducer strips are available which simply snap onto the edge of the outer row of tiles.
