Backyard Decks on Bare Ground
 |
Although HandyDeck Decking Tiles are most commonly laid over hard surfaces such as concrete which offers a firm and stable base support, you can however install the tiles in your back yard over bare ground providing certain precautions taken.
Firstly, you need to make sure the surface is even (not bumpy), well compacted and all grass or vegetation is removed. Ideally, the tiles should be laid on a bed of well compacted, fine gravel.
After you've levelled the surface as much as possible, you then need to lay a weed control mat over the area which the tiles will cover. Then you just lay the tiles as normal.
One of the great benefits that makes HandyDeck Decking tiles such an attractive option for backyard decks is that you can extend your deck in any direction you like, as far as you like, at any time you like. And if they don't quite suit the area you had in mind, just take them up and lay them down elsewhere.
If you need to fit around posts or poles, just cut the tiles with a jigsaw or handsaw. As SwiftDeck and LinkDeck are available in several different styles, you can use the different styles to create an attractive border or design a special central feature. To finish of the edges of the deck, just snap the matching reducers to the outside edge of the tiles to give a totally professional finish.
And there's no need to worry about harsh weather affecting the tiles. Our SwiftDeck and LinkDeck decking tiles only use high durability wood species so they'll stand up to blazing hot sun, drenching rain, ice and snow, and keep looking great, day after day, year after year. |
