Can the tiles be used in extremely cold conditions?

Our SwiftDeck and LinkDeck wood tiles are generally  unaffected by snow or ice although you may notice some minor cupping of the wood slats just after the snow has melted and the wood surface is still wet. This cupping will disappear once the snow completely melts and the wood surface dries.

For the plastic base, we use a polymer mix which consists mainly of polyethylene with some polypropylene added for extra stiffness. Polyethylene can be used extremely cold conditions without becoming excessively brittle.

Our EzyTile porcelain tiles have had an average water absorption of less than 5%.  Although there are no hard and fast guidelines limiting water absorption/porosity of ceramic or porcelain tiles for freeze-thaw environments, an often-cited but substantially incorrect rule of thumb is that tiles with a water absorption greater than 3% are not generally suited for outdoor freeze-thaw conditions. While true for some tiles, there are many tiles, with greater than 3% water absorption, suitable for exterior use.
