Can the tiles be laid directly on rooftops covered with a rubber or bituminous membrane?

<
Any tiles in the HandyDeck range can be laid directly over a rooftop surface whether this be a torch down membrane, EPDM membrane, liquid rubber or other type of waterproofing product. Because each tile has over 70 small "feet" on the underside, the pressure on the membrane is distributed evenly so that no damage to membranes will normally occur. And because all the tiles are locked together by the interconnecting tabs, the tiles will not move once installed.

However any membrane will deteriorate over time to varying degrees. It is thus always advisable to get a professional opinion as to the current state of the membrane and seek their advice as to what is appropriate to lay over your membrane given its type, age and condition.

One suggestion, should you or the building owner prefer to take additional precautions, is to lay an additional membrane or EPDM sheet underneath the tiles.

One of the big advantages of  HandyDeck tiles is that they enable you to construct an attractive deck on your rooftop where other permanent structures may not permitted - and you can take them up and install them in another location any time you like.
