How to Resurface a Porch & Veranda Floor

Worried about the appearance of your front porch or veranda?

As the saying goes, "You don't get a second chance to make a first impression" and your front porch or veranda is normally the first thing that visitors or friends notice when coming to your home.

But with just a small amount of effort and an hour or so of your time, you can completely transform the entrance to your home by laying down HandyDeck deck tiles.

And with different styles and colors available in both our wood, stone or ceramic ranges, you can create your own unique design.  For example, you could run a border around the porch with Sierra style tiles in our SwiftDeck range or use them to make a feature panel near the doorway.  And for the outside edges of the porch, transition pieces are available in our SwiftDeck and EzyTile ranges which simply clip on the edge of the tiles to give a truly professional finish.

And if your porch has a concrete rather than a wood surface, that's no problem at all.  Simply lay the tiles directly over the top of the existing wood surface and click the tiles into place. A typical porch can normally be covered in less than an hour ... ready to use right away.

Normally there’s very little surface preparation required although with our EzyTile range of porcelain, granite and natural slate tiles, it's important that the base is as smooth as possible so that the tiles do not "rock" on the surface.

If you need to cut any SwiftDeck wood or ResiDeck composite wood tiles to fit around pipes or fit against a wall, you just need  a simple handsaw. If you make the template of stiff card, it makes the task of cutting the tiles exactly the right size and shape much easier. With the EzyTile range of stone tiles however you will need to use a wet saw to cut the tiles.
