Slate Tiles

Interlocking slate deck tiles

Specifications & Features

In both ultra modern and more traditional settings, the texture, luster and classic colors of natural slate never fails to impress.

Since slate is a natural product with a layered structure, you may notice some slight flaking over time, which on the Sea Green tiles, can give the appearance of small whitish patches on the surface.  The slate thickness will also vary a little from tile to tile as a result of the layered structure of natural slate.

Being a relatively soft stone, we normally do not recommend using slate tiles for commercial applications or locations subject to heavy foot traffic. For such applications we suggest using our range of 24″ x 24″ porcelain stoneware pavers, which are scratch resistant, stain resistant, freeze/thaw resistant, slip resistant and exceptionally low maintenance and can also be used with pedestal systems for exterior elevated flooring and rooftop decks.

If you are looking for a gray slate tile, in the Stone Look range of pavers, the ‘Coke’ paver looks very similar to gray slate, but is stain resistant, freeze/thaw resistance and scratch resistance. It is not interlocking but can be laid directly over concrete using our fixed height support pads.

In regions subject to freeze/thaw issues, we recommend applying a specialist slate sealer after installation of the slate interlocking tiles, which is also helpful in providing some protection against staining.
